Qatar Airways’’ chief executive, Akbar Al Baker, has confirmed that negotiations for a new contract with the Catalan club are at advanced stages and that it is “possible” that the airline adds its name to the Camp Nou stadium.

"Everything is a possibility for our company, we’re open to surprises and one of these could be connected to the name of the Camp Nou", Al Baker explained in an event held on Wednesday to present the new advertising campaign for the airline, according to AS.

The Qatar Airways executive added that his company and Barcelona "have the same values", whilst, Barca´s vice-president, Javier Faus added that the club only had "gratitude" for the Qatari airline.

Qatar Airways have invested over 30 million euro per annum in Barcelona, but the club are aiming to increase that figure by 20 million per season.

Faus was reluctant to go into detail but did allude to the fact that the Qatari airline are their preferred option.
