Nike has forced Cristiano Ronaldo to withdraw his range of CR7 footwear and threatened to break off their contract with him.

The Real Madrid and Portugal star, who pockets a reported €9 million a year from the American company, took their threat seriously.

The World Player of the Year launched the range of footwear at Milan Shoe Fair last week, according to Spanish daily Sport.

“Nike were not happy and offered the 30-year-old an ultimatum: Drop the footwear range or lose your contract with Nike.

“Nike viewed his move into the footwear market as direct competition and put their foot down,” added the report.

The Madrid posterboy has a big connection with the fashion world, having previously launched his own line of underwear and shirts.

It is not yet know whether Ronaldo has withdrawn or not.
