Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune has rubbished as "not true" weekend media reports which suggested that he was allegedly barred from joining in the club's celebration against Polokwane City on Wednesday night.

Sunday World reported at the weekend that there was a dispute between football manager Bobby Motaung and goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune during last Wednesday’s Championship winning celebrations at FNB Stadium.

The paper quotes its source saying that it is alleged Motaung believes Khune does not care about the team anymore, but the club has refuted the report as "incorrect."

“The club wants to stress that at no time was there a discussion between Motaung and Khune about the goalkeeper not being allowed to enter the pitch to join the championship winning celebrations,” the club said in a statement on Wednesday.

“Khune was suspended for the Polokwane game, due to having received a red-card against AmaZulu.”

“I didn’t even speak to Itu on the day,” said Motaung about the allegations that there was a heated discussion between the two. “The words in the newspapers are not authentic.”

Khune was also shocked to see the newspaper reports: “Those stories are not true. Besides that, I was sitting with the other players in the Super Suite, while Bobby was in the Presidential Suite.”
