Abandoned SuperSport-Pirates fixture to recommence on Wednesday, kickoff at 12 midday

The Premier Soccer League has confirmed the fixture between SuperSport United and Orlando Pirates will be recommence on Wednesday afternoon, kickoff is at 12h00.

The match, which was suspended by the referee due to insufficient lighting at the Peter Mokaba stadium in Polokwane on Tuesday evening, was abandoned on the 62nd minute with United leading 1-0 thanks to new Matsatsantsa signing Michael Boxall.

The League applied its rules and, after all avenues were exhausted to ensure the match is completed came to no avail, the match was officially abandoned.

According to Rule 5.7, remaining minutes of the fixture will be resumed.

According to PSL rule 5.7 on the PSL website: “Should a match be abandoned by the Referee due to insufficient illumination from the floodlights, then the remaining minutes of the match will be resumed on a date and time agreed upon between the two participating clubs immediately upon the abandonment of the match.

“The date and time will be within forty-eight (48) hours of the abandonment of the match, subject to the approval of the Chief Executive Officer of the League or a delegated Official of the League who may set an alternative date and time.”
