Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has reportedly been confronted by a group of senior players who complained about the Dutchman’s “regid” training methods which lack “creativity and flexibility.”

That was revealed in a report in the UK's Times on Thursday which claims the meeting happened a couple of weeks ago after a consultation between the players in the dressing room.

According to the report, the players asked the manager to be allowed to express themselves more freely as they feel as though Van Gaal’s work on the training pitch is hampering their performances.

United have endured a tough start to the 2015-16 campaign having collected just seven points from a possible 12 so far.

United have been too rigid in attack and subsequently pretty easy to defend against, the senior players argued.

Despite boasting attacking talent like Wayne Rooney, Memphis Depay, Juan Mata and Ashley Young, the Red Devils have only got on the score sheet three times in the league.
