Ajax Cape Town CEO Ari Efstathiou announced that Block 117 at Cape Town Stadium will be renamed ‘The Cecil Lolo - Khayelitsha Stand’ on match days.

This comes after the tragic passing of Urban Warriors defender Sonwabile Cecil Lolo in a car accident in the early hours of Sunday morning on October 25.

Block 117 at Cape Town Stadium has become the home of all Urban Warriors for every home match.

“While we may no longer have Cecil Lolo on the field with us, this is the ideal way to have his presence with us at every home match,” said the club’s official website.

In addition, the club will also be retiring the number 21 jersey in Lolo’s honour.

Lolo’s official memorial service was held at the Thusong Hall in Khayelitsha on Friday, October 30 with the entire Ajax Cape Town family in attendance.

Meanwhile, Roger de Sa’s forces will return to action against Orlando Pirates on Wednesday, November 4 after having two matches postponed due to unforeseen circumstances.

The match is set to take place at Cape Town Stadium.

Kick-off is at 19:30.
