Times Media Digital brings you the lowdown on Kaizer Chiefs’ new signings announced on Monday.

  •

SIBUSISO KHUMALO

Age: 26

Position: Defender

Jersey No: 13

Former club: SuperSport United

The KwaMashu-born left-back is a Bafana Bafana player who moves to Naturena from SuperSport United‚ with Keegan Ritchie going in the opposite direction.

He has also played at Moroka Swallows and Mamelodi Sundowns.

His last game for Matsatsantsa was in May’s Nedbank Cup final victory over Orlando Pirates.

  •

ENOCENT MKHABELA

Age: 27

Position: Midfielder

Jersey No: 6

Former club: SuperSport United

Mkhabela fell out of favour at Matsatsantsa last season and last played for the club in January. His contract was not renewed and he joins Chiefs as a free agent.

Born outside of Nelspruit in Mpumalanga‚ he rose to prominence at Platinum Stars in the 2011/12 season and would go on to help them to second in the league the following year.

He moved with coach Cavin Johnson to SuperSport and made over 60 appearances in three seasons.

  •

EDMORE CHIRAMBADARE

Age: 24

Position: Striker

Jersey No: 11

Former club: Chicken Inn‚ Zimbabwe

A former barman turned professional footballer‚ Chirambadare shot to prominence at Chicken Inn during the 2015 Zimbabwe Premier League season‚ winning Player of the Month in March‚ April and May.

He had trials at BidVest Wits before the start of last season‚ but was not signed by Gavin Hunt. He is a Zimbabwe national team player.

MITCHELL KATSVAIRO

Age: 26

Position: Midfielder

Jersey No: 8

Former club: Chicken Inn‚ Zimbabwe

With Chiefs’ insistence on calling him ‘Michelle’ at his unveiling‚ Katsvairo’s nickname in the squad is likely already cast in stone.

The midfielder arrives from Chicken Inn and like Chirambadare is a Zimbabwe national team player.

He netted a spectacular winner for his former Zimbabwe club against Mamelodi Sundowns in the African Champions League earlier this year.

LEWIS MACHA

Age: 24

Position: Striker

Jersey No: 19

Former club: Ferroviário de Maputo‚ Mozambique

A Zambian forward who has been plying his trade in Mozambique with top side Ferroviário de Maputo‚ Macha has African Champions League experience and is also a national team player for Chipolopolo.

He netted 10 goals for his club in the 2015 season despite a serious knee problem.

EMMANUEL LETLOTLO

Age: 19

Position: Striker

Jersey No: 21

Former club: Kaizer Chiefs development

Nicknamed ‘Adebayor’‚ Letlotlo is highly-rated at Naturena having starred for the club’s MultiChoice Diski Challenge (MDC) side this past season.

The Soweto-born youngster started playing at his father’s team Young Stars and has moved steadily up the ranks with the AmaKhosi.

He netted nine times in the MDC last season‚ finishing as the tournament’s top-scorer.

KEAGAN BUCHANAN

Age: 25

Position: Midfielder

Jersey No: 10

Former club: Bloemfontein Celtic

Buchanan was a junior at Ajax Cape Town‚ Mamelodi Sundowns and also played for the SuperSport United reserve side‚ but never played for the first teams of any of those clubs.

Instead he made his PSL debut with Bloemfontein Celtic in the 2013/14 season‚ where his skills were much admired. But he has suffered crippling injury problems that have reduced his number of appearances.

He did not play a game for Celtic after November and has managed just 17 league starts in the last two seasons.

RAMAHLWE MPHAHLELE

Age: 26

Position: Defender

Jersey No: 2

Former club: Mamelodi Sundowns

Mphahlele was captain of the Mamelodi Sundowns side that romped to the PSL title last season but chose not to extend his contract with the club and instead move to Naturena.

The right-back is a ready-made replacement for Siboniso Gaxa and will hope he is finally over the injury problems that blighted his second half of last season.

He also captained the South African side at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in 2009‚ but only made his Bafana Bafana debut against Gambia earlier this month.
