Lamontville Golden Arrows coach Clinton Larsen is delighted with his side’s work in the transfer market so far and still expects “three or four” more arrivals in the coming weeks.Larsen has told Times Media Digital that the club could bring in up to 10 new recruits in this transfer window‚ having already unveiled a number of experienced stars.Forwards Lerato Lamola and Vuyani Ntanga arrived from Bloemfontein Celtic as part of the swap deal that saw Namibia international winger Deon Hotto move in the opposite direction. The pair of Malawi international defenders Limbikani Mzava and Lehlohonolo Nonyane have joined after playing at Mpumalanga Black Aces last season and are also two players that Larsen knows well. Arrows have also signed Kenyan international winger Clifton Miheso and are on the brink of bringing in Zimbabwe midfielder Danny Phiri‚ who captained his country at the 2016 COSAFA Castle Cup in Namibia last month.Phiri is expected to sign this week after a successful trial some months ago.Miheso‚ 23‚ joins from AFC Leopards in Kenya and is a seasoned international having been a regular for his country since 2012. He also briefly had a spell with Finnish side VPS in 2015.Phiri‚ 26‚ skippered Chicken Inn to the Zimbabwe Premier League title last season and also played for the club against Mamelodi Sundowns in the African Champions League this year. He won Zimbabwe’s top individual prize in 2015 when he was named Soccer Star of the Year.“We are in negotiations with more [players] and I expect up to 10 new players ahead of the season‚” Larsen tells Times Media Digital.“They are all good additions with good experience and I know many of them from having worked with them previously.”Arrows are one of the first Premier Soccer League clubs back for an eight-week pre-season‚ which Larsen says was necessary with all the new arrivals.“We want to give them as long as possible to work together‚” he says‚ before adding that “most” players had returned for pre-season in good shape.“We obviously gave all of our players programmes to work on during the break and most of them followed those and have come back in good shape."This is now our second week of pre-season and I am very happy with where we are.”After failing to qualify for the MTN8‚ Golden Arrows are only likely to kick a ball in anger towards the end of August. But the Durban club will play in three pre-season tournaments‚ including one in Gauteng.“We have our full programme work mapped out for eight weeks (and) aside from the three pre-season tournaments we will also be playing games against local NFD [National First Division] sides.”TMG Digital..
