Itumeleng Khune is ready for the pressure of leading Kaizer Chiefs again. He said this after an announcement of his reinstatement as the Soweto giants’ captain appeared on the club’s official Twitter site.Khune took back the Bafana Bafana captaincy when he was in goal in the national team’s 4-0 2017 Africa Cup of Nations thrashing of Gambia in Bakau in early June. But‚ with Bafana coach Shakes Mashaba known for rotating the national captaincy‚ this was no necessarily a permanent appointment.Khune relinquished his long-time captaincy of Chiefs to Tefu Mashamaite in February last year because he was spending too much time on the sidelines injured.Chiefs Tweeted: “Khune will lead the Amakhosi as the Team Captain going into the new season #Amakhosi4Life”.Khune told the club’s website on Friday: “All I can say is that I am ready to lead. I have led before and I know what the armband comes with. It comes with a lot of pressure. I enjoy playing under pressure because it brings the best out of me. And‚ I am able to pass this to my teammates.“Our supporters demand results. We are ready to defend the badge and make our supporters happy.”Khune takes over the captaincy at a time when Chiefs need strong leadership. Mashamaite left the club a year ago - after leading Chiefs to a league and cup double in 2014-15 - to join Hacken in Sweden.Amakhosi finished without a trophy and in fifth place in the PSL last season‚ and subsequently had a 20-player clearout. With a number of new signings at the club‚ Khune’s on-field guidance and experience could be crucial helping steady the Amakhosi ship in coach Steve Komphela's second season. – TMG Digital..
