Bafana Bafana coach Shakes Mashaba says Mauritania – who still have an outside chance of qualification – will be no walkovers in Friday night’s final Group M Africa Cup of Nations match at Mbombela Stadium (7.05pm).South Africa‚ with no chance left of reaching Gabon 2017‚ will be playing for pride and to put the record straight against Mauritania.Bafana’s shock 3-1 defeat to the then-114th-ranked Saharan nation in Nouakchott a year ago was the result that effectively cost South Africa's qualification.South Africa‚ in third place on six points‚ cannot catch leaders Cameroon (11) or even finish as one of the two best runners-up‚ where four teams are already on 11 or 10 points. Mauritania‚ in second on seven points‚ have an unlikely mathematical chance of still qualifying‚ though will need a number of other results to go their way.Mashaba‚ though‚ is wary of “Les Mourabitones”.“Yes‚ we would really like to end off with a win that will give us nine points in the qualifers‚ [even though that] will still not take us anywhere‚” Mashaba said.“But we know very well that this will not be an easy game because Mauritania come here with high hopes of qualifying.“They will not be like sheep to slaugher but we are ready for them because we can see light at the end of the tunnel after what transpired at training.” For Bafana‚ this match and the Nelson Mandela Challenge game against Egypt at Orlando Stadium on Tuesday now serve as preparation for next month’s start of the Russia 2018 World Cup qualifiers.SA begin that campaign away against Burkina Faso on October 3.Mashaba has given a start to two of the star performers for the SA Olympic team at Rio 2016‚ right-back Abbubaker Mobara and winger Maphosa Modiba. - TMG Sport..
