Bafana Bafana coach Ephraim “Shakes” Mashaba says he is not aware of any impending meeting with the leadership of the SA Football Association to discuss his future.

Mashaba was speaking after his team beat Egypt 1-0 in the Nelson Mandela Challenge match at Orlando Stadium on Tuesday night.

That match followed Bafana ending their failed 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with a dead rubber 1-1 draw against Mauritania in Nelspruit on Friday night.

Reports have been that Safa will meet this week to discuss Mashaba’s future following the Gabon 2017 failure.

“We had prepared to play this game and win this game. We were not looking at meetings and so on,” Mashaba said after Mpho Makola’s eighth-minute winner gave Bafana victory against Egypt.

“We have played football, and we came to win, and we won. The rest will take place in its own.”

Asked what he is anticipating about his future as Bafana coach, Mashaba replied: “To win more games with Bafana Bafana.”

Asked if he is aware of a meeting scheduled with the Safa leadership this week, Mashaba said: “I am not aware of that meeting. I don’t know anything of the meeting.”

Mashaba steered Bafana to the 2015 Nations Cup in Equatorial Guinea, their first qualification for a major tournament other than as hosts since the 2008 Afcon under Carlos Albert Parreira.

He retained the Nelson Mandela Challenge after Bafana beat Senegal 1-0 in the annual international friendly match almost a year ago.
