Soweto Derby trash talk - Orlando Pirates train 'smart' while Kaizer Chiefs train 'hard'

27 October 2016 - 17:45 By Marc Strydom

The friendly verbal sparring between Orlando Pirates coach Muhsin Ertugral and his Kaizer Chiefs counterpart Steve Komphela has begun. The two teams meet in the Soweto derby in Saturday’s Premier Soccer League game at FNB Stadium.Speaking at the pre-match press conference in Johannesburg city centre on THursday ahead of the biggest match in South African football‚ Ertugral and Komphela got the ball rolling as they jokingly took jibes at each other. Referring to Chiefs captain Itumeleng Khune’s statement that Amakhosi have worked hard in training in preparation for the derby‚ Ertugral said: “I hear ‘Itu’ saying they have trained very hard. We trained very smart this week.” Komphela responded: “In as much as the coach says smart training as opposed to hard training‚ sometimes hard work beats talent‚ when talent fails to work.” - TMG Digital ..
