University of Pretoria coach Shaun Bartlett has welcomed the long break between PSL Promotion/Relegation play-off matches as a chance to regroup as his side’s top-flight status hangs by a threat.AmaTuks lost their playoff opener 1-0 to National First Division side Mbombela United on May 29 but after nearly two weeks on the sidelines due to the international break‚ they resume with a must-win fixture against Highlands Park on Saturday.Bartlett said the break has allowed his team to work on a number of things following the United loss in which they hit the woodwork three times‚ but also conceded a penalty that was missed.Highlands Park get off to solid start in PSL promotion play-offsHighlands Park got off to a great start in the promotion-relegation play-offs following their emphatic 3-0 win over Mbombela United at Kanyamazane Stadium yesterday. “Based on the result [against Mbombela] you would say this break has helped us a lot‚” Bartlett told Times Media.“We have done our postmortem‚ had time to reflect on the things that should have happened in the game and have also looked ahead to Highlands Park.“Our next match is a must-win game‚ if we lose … you would have to say that is that. But the good thing is that things are still in our hands and we just have to go out there and win."Mbombela back in contention for PSL promotion after win over TuksNational First Division side Mbombela United breathed new life into their PSL promotion play-off campaign with a 1-0 victory over top-flight University of Pretoria at Tuks Stadium on Sunday. Bartlett says his side have no new injury concerns‚ but that they will miss suspended forward Thabo Nemukondeni‚ who received a red card in the final league match of the campaign against Lamontville Golden Arrows.“Missing him is a blow not only because of his ability but also the fact that he gives 110 percent out there. Beating teams in the NFD is not about tactics‚ its about attitude and the effort the players put into their performances.“You have to work very hard and he certainly does that‚” Bartlett concluded. - TMG Digital..
