Roger de Sa has quit Ajax Cape Town only a day after a league defeat to BidVest Wits.

Ajax have struggled all season and it seems the 2-1 defeat to Wits may have been the straw that finally broke the camel's back.

The club confirmed in a statement on Thursday that the two parties have parted ways after just six games into the season.

The ailing Urban Warriors are yet to win a match and remain second from the bottom with just two points from six games.

“I would like to thank the management‚ technical team and the players for all their support during my two and a half years at the club‚” De Sa said in a statement.

“I’ve enjoyed every minute of my job especially working with such a youthful squad. I personally think we are on the verge of winning ways but the results have not gone our way. I’d like to wish everyone‚ especially the fantastic supporters‚ all the success that this club deserves.”

CEO Ari Efstathiou said: “We are thankful to Roger for his contribution to the club and for the success he has brought to the club during his time here.

  •

“He has been instrumental in implementing many new ideas while part of the Ajax Cape Town technical staff.

"Moreover‚ Roger successfully took us to two cup finals with the highlight being the MTN8 triumph last season winning it with a record 10 academy players in the starting line-up.”
