Mamelodi Sundowns do miss Keagan Dolly‚ captain Hlompo Kekana admitted as Downs have hit their biggest slump in more than a year.

Dolly transferred to French Ligue 1 side Montpellier in late January after protracted negotiations‚ having played a starring role in the Brazilians becoming 2016 African club champions and winning their 2015-16 Absa Premiership title.

  • 'We have to bounce back with a win against Sundowns' - FurmanSuperSport United captain Dean Furman has admitted his side might need to win both their back-to-back Absa Premiership matches against Mamelodi Sundowns to stay in contention fore the title.

Kekana admitted that Pitso Mosimane’s Pretoria juggernaut of stars have missed one of their key attacking cogs as they prepare to face SuperSport United in the Tshwane derby on Thursday night on the back of five league matches without a win.

“Well‚ I would say yeah‚ we do miss Keagan because he has been our key player for the past season‚ and for the games we played in the Champions League‚” Kekana said.

  • Sundowns have to rediscover their swag in Tshwane derby showdown against SuperSportMamelodi Sundowns have to rediscover their deadliness in front of goal in a potentially pivotal match in their defence of their Absa Premiership title against SuperSport United on Thursday night‚ says Downs captain Hlompo Kekana.

“Obviously losing him so early wasn't expected. We were very close to him and understood him both on the pitch and as a person‚ and it was a difficult thing to accept that he had moved to greener pastures.

“As players I think we just have to make sure that we apply ourselves as professionals and make sure we start winning matches.

“That’s the only important thing at the moment because that's the situation we are in.”

Sundowns’ slump – confirmed by a 1-0 home Nedbank Cup last-16 defeat against Lamontville Golden Arrows on Saturday – is endangering their chances of defending their PSL title.

The Brazilians have 35 points from 19 games‚ and even if they win both fixtures in hand on leaders Bidvest Wits (44 from 21)‚ will still be three points off the pace.
