Mokotjo finishes 11th in polling for Dutch Footballer of the Year award

Bafana Bafana midfielder Kamohelo Mokotjo finished in 11th place in the polling for the Dutch Footballer of the Year award‚ based on points given after each match for performance.

He finished with 189‚50 points‚ not far behind the winner‚ who was Feyenoord’s Karim El Ahmadi‚ the Dutch-born Moroccan international.

Mokotjo was also named in the best XI of the season in a midfield with El Ahmadi and Dutch internationals Davy Klaassen and Tonny Vilhena.

Mokotjo likely played his last game for Twente Enschede at the weekend when they were beaten 5-3 by Groningen to finish in seventh spot.

Ajax Amsterdam goalkeeper Andre Onana‚ who hails from Cameroon‚ was the next best African in the polling in eighth place with Mokotjo finishing as the third best African in a significant personal triumph.
