A pair of Floyd Mayweather’s boxing gloves fetched R500 000 at a gala dinner in Emperor’s Palace at the weekend.

Telkom chairman Jabu Mabuza snapped up the gloves at the charity auction on Friday.

The proceeds of the auction will go to the Dube Boys Club which produced Jacob “Baby Jake” Matlala, Sport and Recreation Minister Fikile Mbalula said earlier.

Mabuza is also the deputy chairman of hotel group Tsogo Sun.
