For talented Delta Choshi, 25, the world is her stage.

The award-winning choreographer, who is representing South Africa in two international dance competitions next month and in June, hopes to inspire other young people to become dancers.

"I grew up with nothing and understand the importance of sharing knowledge. I want to inspire others through example," she said.

Choshi, who is also a hip-hop DJ, composer and motivational speaker, leaves for Croatia next month to take part in the ESDU DanceStar World Dance Masters competition.

Then, in June, she will take part in the Dance World Cup final in Portugal.

Raised by a single mother and by her grandmother, Choshi could not attend dancing school.

"I took the initiative to teach myself . Wherever there is music my feet take control and tell a story," she said.

She is the founder of the Live.Learn.Inspire hip-hop dance workshops, which aim to teach dance styles, culture and competition-readiness.

Choshi is known for bringing a street flavour to any dance and has been seen on e.tv's Shiz Niz, and on Vuzu's Masters of Rhythm.
