The stand-off between Mfundi Vundla's MMSV productions and the 16 fired Generations actors reached the CCMA yesterday - but nobody is budging.

The Generations Actors Guildappeal to the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration centres on the dismissal of the actors, who had earlier decided to stopworking until grievances were addressed by MMSV and the SABC.

It appears that conciliation has failed, which means the matter will move on to arbitration .

The actors' legal adviser, Bulelani Mzamo, was quoted as saying, "The CCMA is not a one-step process. There is a considerable amount of work that needs to go into demonstrating the basis of this claim to the CCMA."

The actors' guild said: "We are also going to put in a civil case for a transparent calculation for the commercial exploitation fees owed to us for use of the episodes and our images. "

SABC spokesman Kaizer Kganyago said the public broadcaster "did not have any mandate to settle anything".

"We don't know what they want us to settle, because they are independent contractors, so we could not settle anything with them. It's up to them whether they want to take it to arbitration," he said.
