Five years ago, US R&B star John Legend played his first concert in South Africa.

When he played Johannesburg's Coca-Cola Dome on Wednesday night, he was a different man.

Clearly still enamoured of his wife of a year, model Chrissy Teigen, the nine-time Grammy Award winner frequently engaged in witty, even flirty, banter with his audience. It was a perfect date night for many.

And what made it all the more perfect was that he left his biggest song, All Of Me, for the encore. Did it matter that the crowd sang along so loudly he could barely be heard? No.
