Cricketers no gentlemen

The histrionics displayed by spinner Imran Tahir - a chest-thumping show of glee at taking wickets - sometimes watched with sniggers from his teammates, supersedes the antics of so many of his predecessors.

We had Allan Donald's "aerodynamics" and Dale Steyn pointing at the ground and making lionesque roars.

Anything is better than the sledging and verbals that Aussie David Warner issues to his opponents, inviting censure from officials.

Whatever the form of celebration, the cricket authorities must get players to tone down on their "riotous" behaviour. It is, after all, a gentleman's game.
