South African Football Association president Danny Jordaan will not be contesting any of the Confederation of African Football's elections later this year, putting a halt to his ambitions to join the executives of both Caf and Fifa.

Jordaan was handed embarrassing setbacks in his previous bids to win one of Africa's seats on the all-powerful Fifa executive, as well as a place on the Caf executive.

He also pulled out at the last minute from a bid to become president of Cosafa, the regional body for southern Africa.

Caf confirmed there will be no challengers for the seats that come up for re-election in April.

That means that Football Association of Zambia president Kalusha Bwalya will retain one of the two seats for southern Africa.

The Safa boss is also not standing in the election for Fifa seats. Mohamed Raouraoua of Algeria and Jacques Anouma of the Ivory Coast face challenges from Tarek Bouchamaoui of Tunisia and Constantin Omari of the Democratic Republic of Congo respectively. The election will be at the Caf congress in Cairo on April 7.

The winners will only get two years, instead of the usual four, on the Fifa executive until 2017, when Africa brings in a new system to determine its four representatives on the 23-man Fifa committee.

Jordaan might attempt a run again in 2017, as there is currently no representation for Africa's English-speaking countries on Fifa's committee.
