Wayne Parnell beware, Cape Town's biggest pranksters are on the hunt for dudes with top knots, and chopping them off one by one.

The hairstyle has become quite ubiquitous in recent times (actor Colin Farrell, Jake Gyllenhall, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Jared Leto have sported it) and duo Nic Smal and Gareth Allison, better known as Derick Watts and The Sunday Blues, detest it.

In their latest video, called Stop The Knot, released yesterday , they staged “drive-by haircuts to stop the top knot” in Cape Town.

The pair are perhaps most famous for their “Car Guarding In The USA” video, which went viral, last November when they decided to go to the streets of San Diego, testing people's reactions to experiencing car guards for the very first time.

This time, they drive around the city looking for seemingly unsuspecting victims — either at restaurants or just a street corner.

At the top of the video, Smal (who also does the snipping) rants to the camera: “What’s this about? It’s not even a bun — you get a manbun, and then you get this thing. It’s tiny, it looks like you’re balancing a rubber band on your head”.

Then they show a few examples of what a top- knot is, and Allison quips, “look at this one, he looks like an onion - an onion who’s also a d*ck".

Smal says they look like "pre pubescent samurais".

Then he wears a headband holding a GoPro camera, and runs straight for the victim, chops, and jumps back into the car, and they speed off.

He says: “Don’t try this at home. Cutting people’s hair, strangely, that’s fine — running with scissors, I mean...”.

The video has since polarised Twitter users.

@CazOnTheWeb: “This #stoptheknot video by @derickwatts is strangely satisfying. Also If somebody cut my hair off I’d laugh so I guess I don’t see much harm” while @nicolaasvrvo wrote “#stoptheknot Stunned to see how many girls think it’s hilarious! How would you react if it happened to you? Bet it wouldn’t be funny then”.

The pair responded on their Twitter page, saying, “Anyone offended by our new video clearly doesn’t know the cost of a haircut in this city. #stoptheknot".
