EFF wants 'foreign-owned' land in upmarket seaside town

The Economic Freedom Fighters plan to "relieve" a foreigner of his land outside Ballito, in KwaZulu-Natal. The party has earmarked the vacant plot for homes for "as many people as we can".EFF provincial secretary Jackie Shandu said yesterday he believed the land was owned by a foreigner, perhaps a Briton."There are too many foreigners owning land that stands vacant in this country when our own people are living in pigsties," he said.Land on the outskirts of the plush seaside town is the latest target in the EFF's plans to settle people illegally. Last week, landowners in Cape Town were warned to be vigilant after rumours of illegal land grabs.Gavin Higgins of community crime forum Ballito Hawks said the number of land invaders grew from about 25 on Sunday to at least 100 yesterday afternoon.The community would leave it to police to enforce the law...
