Pilot arrested for possession of knives

A pilot has been arrested at Heathrow Airport for alleged possession of knives. The Cathay Pacific pilot, said to be 61 years old, was due to fly more than 250 passengers from London to Hong Kong.The Daily Telegraph reported online that the man was nabbed on Saturday evening, an hour before taking off in his Boeing 777. He was later released on bail. He will return to the police station, where he was held, for further questioning. There was no relief pilot available, forcing the passengers to wait until Sunday before taking off.A police spokesman said the man was arrested on "suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and of being in possession of a blade/sharp pointed article in a public place".A Cathay Pacific spokesman said: "We will continue to co-operate with the authorities throughout the investigation."We apologise for the delay and inconvenience caused to the passengers." ..
