PSL relaxes rules for play-offs

National first division sides will not be forced to play under-23 players in the promotion play-offs, the PSL announced yesterday. First division clubs are obliged to start matches with five under-23 players but that rule falls away in the play-offs. The clubs can also start a match with five foreigners instead of the usual three. The promotion-relegation play-offs start on May 17."It's only in this competition where the rules are the same for everybody. Because it would be a bit unfair to have restrictions on NFD teams but you don't have restrictions on Absa Premiership teams," said PSL general manager Derek Blanckensee.The play-offs will be staged in a mini-league format, consisting of the second and third-placed first division sides and the club that finishes 15th in the Absa Premiership.The race for second and third spots in the first division is very tight, with Jomo Cosmos, Black Leopards, Thanda Royal Zulu and Cape All Stars all in with a chance...
