Pule ready to kick off in Sweden

South African junior football star Pule Maraisane is close to ending his long wait to make his debut for Swedish side GAIS. The 20-year-old says he turned down advances from Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates in order to live his dream of playing in Europe.After a frustrating wait for his documents, he is close to making his bow for his new team.He admits he had never heard of GAIS before respected Swedish coach Bo Nilsson recommended him."Both May Mahlangu and Surprise Ralani said it was a good club that played in the first division for many years and wanted to get back there," Maraisane told expressen.se."I am very excited to be here. It's going to be a great experience for me, coming to a new country and a new environment. I still have to learn the team's style of play, but I am excited."An out-of-date passport, a wait for a visa and the formality of obtaining a work permit frustrated Maraisane, who was signed by the club at the end of March.The end is in sight though, with his permit due any day."I've waited so long to get here. I am eager to start playing."Maraisane can play on either wing or as a striker and says his idol is Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic."Zlatan is my favourite player. Like him, I want to play in Italy and Spain. I'm not as big and strong, but I am technical and fast," he said.On the Pirates and Sundowns links, he said he was offered the chance to sign for the clubs." I declined. I said I wanted to go to Europe."Maraisane is a graduate of Farouk Khan's Stars of Africa Academy and has trained with Brazilian side Fluminense...
