Woman injured on Sandton walkway after ceiling collapses

A woman had to be rushed to hospital after a ceiling partially collapsed on the walkway between Sandton City and Nelson Mandela Square in Johannesburg yesterday. ER24 spokesman Werner Vermaak said the woman sustained a possible ankle fracture and was taken to Mediclinic in Sandton.Sandton City general manager Julie Hillary confirmed that a portion of a ceiling collapsed at about 3.10pm, adding the incident would be "thoroughly" investigated.As usual, the Twitterati could not miss out on the opportunity to joke about the incident.@Irvinpooe tweeted: "Sandton of all the places. Why didn't Nkandla aka Nkhandlah fall instead?"@_Zanie tweeted: "I'd fake all kinds of injuries if that Sandton City roof collapsed on me."@FayFerrucci wrote: "This lady must be given money and an opportunity to shop at all the stores in Sandton City and free parking for a year!"..
