Sporting take extra week for training in Cape

Portuguese football giants Sporting Lisbon have decided to add an extra seven days onto their trip to South Africa next month, when they will compete in the Cape Town Cup. Sporting return to the country for the first time in more than two decades to play against Ajax Cape Town, Supersport United and English premier league side Crystal Palace in the Mother City on July 24 and 26.But Sporting will now also hold a week of pre-season training in the country, arriving on July 21.They will be under new coach Jorge Jesus, who defected from Benfica after taking them to two successive Portuguese championships in a sensational switch of loyalty.Sporting, who were victorious in the Portuguese Cup final last month, have not won a league title in the past 13 years, but are hoping to emerge from the shadow of perennial winners Benfica and Porto...
