An Italian father is suing his two sons after they refused to give him €160 (about R2,100) a month to help him survive on his meagre pension. The 80-year-old, from Treviso in northern Italy, struggled to survive financially after he separated from his wife and moved into a flat by himself. But his pleas for help were ignored. He filed a lawsuit shortly afterwards."I have a pension of €600 a month," he told his two children. "But I spend €300 on my rent. I can't get by on what's left. Help me out. à80 a month from each of you is enough."Both men initially supported their father, giving him €75 a month. But after just a couple of payments they told him that they had "financial difficulties" and could no longer help him.The pensioner sought advice from lawyer Fabio Capraro, who told him he was within his rights to sue his sons for violating their family obligations, under both civil and criminal law.The initial stages of the case have already taken place but Capraro is advising the family to settle out of court."I have asked the judge to postpone the next hearing," he said, "in the hope that they will make peace with each other."..
