Euphonik: Bonang and I were toxic

Following a backlash from its gender-based anti-violence campaign, Marie Claire magazine has apologised to women. The publication drew criticism for using 5FM DJ Themba "Euphonik" Nkosi in its special August "In Her Shoes" edition.Nkosi was in 2012 embroiled in a domestic violence case involving his former girlfriend, television presenter Bonang Matheba. She laid a criminal charge against him but later withdrew it."We made an error of judgment in our choice of personality for this campaign," the magazine said.In an e-mail last night, Euphonik denied assaulting Matheba but described their relationship as ''extremely toxic", saying they were ''emotionally and verbally abusive towards each other".''On the night of the alleged abuse, we had a heated argument. I had turned to leave when she tried to stop me. I pushed her body away from me and walked out. She was not injured when I left so I can't comment about where her facial wounds came from as I was not there to witness that."Euphonik said he had been unfairly labelled as an abuser and took part in the campaign to highlight the seriousness of abuse. The Department of Women yesterday questioned why Matheba had withdrawn the charges, sparking outrage on Twitter. ..
