Tribunal lands haymaker on BSA chief

Moffat Qithi has been dismissed as CEO of Boxing SA, nearly two years after he was suspended, BSA chairman Muditambi Ravele confirmed yesterday. A disciplinary tribunal had recommended Qithi be sacked after finding him guilty on 10 of the 14 charges against him, five of them involving "gross dishonesty".Ravele said Qithi, who remained on full pay of about R100000 a month, had not appealed during the five-day window, which expired on Wednesday."The board of BSA approved the findings and terminated Qithi's services, pending his appeal."We gave him five working days to appeal and that expired on Wednesday, which means the dismissal is effective," said Ravele."We will be advertising the post of CE soon."Apart from the CEO post, BSA will also advertise six other positions, two of which were vacated after suspensions.Chief financial officer Kgosimang Mosupa was dismissed and BSA director of operations Loyiso Mtya quit before his disciplinary hearing."We want to focus on the future, reposition the organisation and service our licensees they way we should," said Ravele.Attempts to get a comment from Qithi were unsuccessful yesterday...
