Shaking it up: A stirring occasion for bartenders

For the next week or so, Cape Town is playing host to 54 of the best international bartenders. From Monday, the 2015 World Class Global finalists will be mixing drinks for judges at the V&A Waterfront. And on September 4, they will compete for the top prize.Domenico de Lorenzo, from Molecular Bars in Johannesburg, will be among those mixing it up for this grand prize of the cocktail world.The finals are not open to the public, but to celebrate the event, The World Class House - a nine-day cocktail party - will be open at Roodebloem Studios in Woodstock.There will be four cocktail bars where you will have the opportunity to meet master distillers, brand ambassadors and international mixologists, while trying drinks served by previous World Class winners.Tanqueray Gin Experience will re-create the 1920s with bartender Thomas Aske's interpretation of the classic martini.The World Class House will be open from Friday to Saturday September 5 from 6pm until 11pm.
