A newly built Bedfordview mansion is making waves worldwide with its unique design and architectural brilliance. The mansion, Kloof Road House, took years to be completed and was designed by Johannesburg architect Werner van der Meulen of Nico van der Meulen Architects."It took three months to design. The original brief was to design an open plan, north-facing house, opening onto a private garden and pool space," said Nico van der Meulen. The owner of the home, who wished to remain anonymous, said: "We only asked for something nice and our expectations were exceeded."The large four-bedroom black edifice with its steel walls has huge windows and extended porches. The contemporary mansion, home to five people, is completely sustainable with water-based underfloor heating using an energy-efficient heat pump for both cooling and heating. For Van der Meulen the indoor and outdoor living area, as well as the pool pavilion, are his favourite parts - but the home owner could not be drawn on a favourite feature of his home and declined to disclose what the house is worth.Take a look at another design from: Nico van der Meulen Architects ..
