Glittering array of stars for Cape Town jazz fest

US stars Angie Stone, Lizz Wright, SWV and Victor Wooten are among a slew of musicians heading to Cape Town next year. Organisers of the 17th annual Cape Town International Jazz Festival released the names of some of the performers yesterday in what festival director Billy Domingo called "just a taste of what's in store".Meshell Ndegeocello, and Mali's afro-blues duo Amadou and Mariam will be the key attractions on April 1 and 2 alongside locals Mafikizolo, Muzart and Khuli Chana.More acts will be announced on November 24.More than 37000 are expected to attend, and ticket sales opened yesterday. A two-day pass is R895 and a one-day pass is R590.Other performers announced are Canadian instrumental jazz trio BADBADNOTGOOD, US tenor saxophonist Mark Turner and India's santoor and classical artist Rahul Sharma, who is set to perform with US jazz saxophonist George Brooks."We are proud to create an annual event that has the ability to speak to every demographic and music lover on the continent," said Domingo."Our festival has expanded greatly in recent years and there will always be a strong balance between South African artists and their international counterparts."..
