Kaizer Chiefs do it again

Camaldine Abraw scored a second goal in two games as Kaizer Chiefs sluggishly negotiated their way past Mpumalanga Black Aces 1-0 in last night's Absa Premiership match at FNB Stadium. Abraw, as he had in Chiefs' 2-1 Telkom Knockout defeat of Aces in Nelspruit on Saturday, put his side ahead in the 32nd minute. Some unconvincing defending by Chiefs saw Amazayoni set up a string of late chances but they could not profit with a goal.It is never easy to play the same side twice in two games. Amakhosi coach Steve Komphela will be pleased at the three points but would have been less satisfied at a somewhat flat performance. Perhaps his side's mind was on Saturday's big Soweto derby against Orlando Pirates at FNB.Chiefs probed cautiously in a decent first-half performance and had the best of chances in a dominant opening half-hour.George Lebese's free-kick came in from left midfield, unexpectedly catching the Aces defence square and delivery fell to Abraw to head in his second goal for his new club.Amazayoni substitute Aubrey Modiba reminded Chiefs that their lead was tenuous when his cross took a deflection, forcing a one-handed save from Itumeleng Khune.Siboniso Gaxa's header had to be stopped again by Khune, the near own goal reinforcing that point.Supersport United ended a run of six games without success in the league by beating hosts Chippa United 2-0 at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth last night to lift themselves clear of the relegation zone, writes Mark Gleeson.Clayton Daniels headed home just before the break and Jeremy Brockie provided the customary finish as Supersport won in the league for the first time since their opening match of the campaign.Coach Gordon Igesund admitted his side was under pressure but after a scratchy first half showing took control after the break."It was not easy but we have a bit of momentum going now," said Igesund, whose side won in the Telkom Knockout at the weekend. It took more than half an hour for the first real action when defender Diamond Thopela's attempted clearance struck his own upright and bounced into the arms of goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi. But just two minutes before the break, Daniels put Supersport ahead with a header.Brockie's goal came five minutes from the end when a free kick fell perfectly for the New Zealander to hit it with a full volley...
