Meyer can stay‚ says player who’s never started a game under him

Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer can stay, flanker Siya Kolisi said sheepishly when the Boks returned home. Kolisi spent the bulk of the Rugby World Cup sitting on some of the most comfortable stadium seats Britain had to offer and played in the opening two games off the bench.In 13 Tests since making his debut against Scotland in 2013 he has never started a game under Meyer.But Kolisi was diplomatic in the face of a wave of criticism that has engulfed Meyer following the campaign in the UK and the four years of stagnation over which the coach has presided."Yes, yes he can continue," said Kolisi when probed on his thoughts about the embattled Bok coach."I wanted to play more than I did but the most important thing is the team and the coach makes the final selections in the end. I was happy to be there and being part of the effort to win it."On December 4 the SA Rugby Union general council will deliberate on Meyer's future.Kolisi, 24, said the British outing showed that the Boks had to work well in advance to do well at the next Rugby World Cup - in Japan in 2019."You've got to start working four years before the time - you can't start building when you get there," Kolisi said.Scrumhalf Rudy Paige also said he was satisfied with the supporting role he'd played...
