Cassper Nyovest KOs KO in SA's hottest MC stakes

Cassper Nyovest has knocked out KO and seized this year's title of South Africa's Hottest MC, according to an MTV Base panel of hip-hop industry heavyweights. Coming off the ropes in close second is archrival AKA, with Skhanda rap pioneer and last year's title-holder KO third.Fourth and fifth place went to Riky Rick and Okmalumkoolkat respectively. Kwesta came sixth, Khuli Chana seventh, Kid X eighth, Ifani ninthand L-Tido 10th.Its second year running, MTV Base's Hottest MCs ranks South Africa's top 10 hip-hop artists for the year according to their impact, lyrics, sales, buzz, style and intangibles.The list has again caused much controversy and resulted in the #BaseHottestMC trending worldwide on Twitter for two days, with more than 20000 tweets.Fans took to the social media site to air their grievances with the rankings of their favourite rappers as well as the exclusion of those they consider to be the best.@tumivataloco tweeted: "#BaseHottestMC should change the name from hottest MC to Artist, a list without @Blaklez & @ReasonHD and you talking about MCs. Nah!"@ArabileG tweeted: "The #BaseHottestMC list doesn't have Tumi/Proverb in it, yet these guys have released amazing albums.
