Bafana Bafana midfielder Bongani Zungu will be playing his football in Portugal's Premier League next season, his agent Steve Kapeluschnik has confirmed. The Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder will leave the Tshwane side for Vitoria de Guimaraes FC for the 2016-17 season."We have spent a considerable amount of time and energy looking at and meeting with various clubs all over the world and, after careful consideration, Bongani has decided to join Guimaraes."There were many teams keen to sign the player, but it was felt that he should join a league where most importantly he will get game time and join a club that is happy to develop and sell players onto bigger leagues in Europe. Guimaraes are currently sitting sixth in the Portuguese Super Liga and have just beaten FC Porto in a League match."Portugal is currently ranked as the eighth-strongest national football league in the world behind (countries like) France, Brazil and Germany..." Kapeluschnik said.The 23-year-old midfielder commented that playing for Vitoria de Guimaraes would help develop his game, but for now he remains committed to Sundowns."Guimaraes has been following my progress for quite some time and they really showed a huge desire to have me join the club. When I met with the people from the club they made me feel like they really wanted me and this, together with the fact that they are well known for developing and selling players, made it easy for me to join. I also want to make it clear that I am a Mamelodi Sundowns player until the end of the season and that I am 100% committed to making sure that the team does well. Obviously Sundowns wanted me to stay and my agent and I had discussions with them and we both assured Sundowns that if I were to stay in South Africa the only team for me was Sundowns.
