Comedy: Everything's a laughing matter for them

05 February 2016 - 02:59 By Shelley Seid

The Kings and Queens of Comedy have polished their crowns for a return to Durban. Twelve comedians will give audiences the royal treatment at the ICC next Friday, February 12. Here's a taste of what to expect.DILLAN OLIPHANTYour current favourite topic?I wish I could say it's the matric pass rate but in my hood we only care about the puff and pass rate.Weirdest on-stage moment?A barking dog in the audience and I'm not talking about Snoop Dogg. He was already a lion by then.Funniest person in the world? Our president would be an easy target. Penny Sparrow. Racism is seriously funny.Who'd you hate to run into at the show?My ex, I'd rather drive into her.KRIJAY GOVENDERCurrent favourite topic?None. I've been in shock since I got the bill for my kids' school fees.Favourite heckle?''We were in school together."Weirdest on-stage moment? The above heckle ... I responded "and now you look like that?" We then kissed and made up in comic banter.Least funny person in the world?Femke Van den Driessche, the pro cyclist caught cheating with a motor hidden in the bike.RORY PETZERCurrent favourite topic? The Gareth Cliff/Idols SA saga. I don't think in the history of Idols anywhere in the world has a judge had to spend so much time auditioning just to make it to the first round.Funniest person in the world?Donald Trump - that dude is a parody of a parody of a parody.Who'd you hate to run into at the show?Father Christmas. That bastard refused to give me the fishing rod I asked for when I was six years old. It's over between us.ANGEL CAMPEYCurrent favourite topic?American politics. It's refreshing to see that we're not the only country whose politicians are crazy.Worst heckle? My mom's: ''Heard it; you're embarrassing the family name; you're uninvited to Christmas."Weirdest on-stage moment?During my one-woman show in Grahamstown, a really stoned audience member stood up and walked onto stage, looking for the toilet.Least funny person in the world?I want to say Donald Trump, but he's actually hilarious. Tickets from R185 are available at Computicket..
