Serving up kids for roadkill

In the wake of endless accidents involving vehicles transporting pupils to school, let me voice my opinion on the matter. While most of these accidents are caused by reckless driving, I must say the parents should also take some blame. In most townships you find an eight-seater vehicle with more than 20 children, and the parents do not seem to care. What makes these parents more irresponsible is that most of them do not even know the roadworthiness of the vehicles that transport their children.Every day I drive past overloaded buses and bakkies transporting pupils and I cannot help but feel sorry for the vulnerable children. The traffic police also pretend they never see this ticking time bomb for reasons only known to them.It is only when tragedy strikes that everyone comes forward and lambasts the drivers for irresponsible behaviour. Why do we have to wait for the worst to happen before we act? How selfish of parents not to prioritise the safety of their children. What kind of a parent would let someone drive his children to school without checking if that person is eligible to drive? Some of these drivers are young men who take drugs and do not care about anything but money.South Africans must wake up and save our children. These tragedies can be prevented if we take responsibility. ..
