Paramedic accused of swiping dying 'Sopranos' star's Rolex

An Italian paramedic has gone on trial for allegedly stealing a Rolex from the wrist of The Sopranos star James Gandolfini as he lay dying in a Rome hotel following a massive heart attack. The ambulance stretcher-bearer was part of a team that rushed to the Boscolo Exedra Hotel in June 2013 when the American actor collapsed in his suite from a cardiac arrest.Claudio Bevilacqua, 43, is accused of taking the £2000 (R45000) Submariner watch as the 51-year-old was fighting for his life.He did not appear in court in Rome for the start of the trial on Monday and so did not enter a plea. The trial was adjourned until November - a time-lag which is normal under Italy's notoriously slow judicial system.Two members of the hotel's security staff noticed that the watch was missing and it was officially reported as stolen on an insurance form filed by Gandolfini's family.The actor had been on holiday with his wife, Deborah Lin, and son, Michael, 13, and had been due to appear at a film festival in the resort town of Taormina...
