So many questions. And, slowly, perhaps some answers. The South African Under-23s are in the tournament as a step to preparing for the Rio Olympics in August. Now the kinks are being ironed out and answers found to some searching questions.Despite Wednesday night's 5-1 thrashing of Swaziland, Bafana again were sluggish. They conceded Tony Tsabedze's 38th-minute goal to go into the break 1-0 down. They were far better in the second half when the Swazis were reduced to 10 men.One answer was that Lebogang Phiri can have a role to play in Brazil. He had a quiet opening game, a quarterfinal victory on penalties against Lesotho, but gave many glimpses of class against Swaziland.Another was that Menzi Masuku, also potentially a key player at the Olympics, has needed match fitness and is earning it in Namibia. Da Gama is joint coach with Bafana boss Shakes Mashaba in the Cosafa tournament."But when we don't have the ball, from a defensive perspective, I think that's where all the coaches, and coach Shakes as well, are all very concerned."We'll score against anybody. We just need not to concede."Bafana's goals were scored by Thabiso Kutumela from a free-kick after Judas Moseamedi appeared to dive, and which also resulted in the expulsion of Swazi centreback Siyabonga Mdluli. Then Phiri, Masuku with two goals, and Moseamedi got in on the act.Black Aces striker Moseamedi, given a second chance after struggling against Lesotho, improved markedly. He may have kept himself in the running for the warm-up friendlies to Rio.Unfortunately for Thembela Sikhakhane, the Golden Arrows defender did not step up given the same opportunity at right-back, prompting half-time changes that again saw Abbubaker Mobara moved from defensive midfield to defence. The squad for Japan is likely to be announced after the final...
