'Dory' finds success

Finding Dory, the Pixar film in its third week of release, outdrew three new movies over the US Independence Day weekend, including a Steven Spielberg picture and a Tarzan feature. Dory, a sequel from Walt Disney, collected $41.9-million in North American theatres from Friday to Sunday over the long weekend, ComScore Inc estimated yesterday.Warner Bros' The Legend of Tarzan was in second place with $38.1-million, Universal's The Purge: Election Year was third with $30.9-million and Spielberg's children's movie The BFG fourth with $19.6-million.Total box-office sales of $190-million for the three days would be the fourth-biggest July 4 weekend yet, comScore said.Dory went into the weekend with $330-million in domestic revenue, making it one of the year's top films. Analysts at BoxOfficePro.com were expecting weekend sales to rise from a year ago. ..
