Heart attack victims not expected to live are now fit and healthy after scientists regenerated their hearts with stem cells in a trial that could help millions. The research is the first to show that scarring of heart muscle during heart attacks can be reversed.

Eleven seriously ill patients who had stem-cell injections at the same time as bypass surgery have made an "astonishing" recovery.Operated on between November 2012 and September 2013, none of the patients were expected to live longer than 24 months. But, since having stem-cell therapy, all are still alive and far more active than before.However further trials were needed to check that improvements were not just the result of successful bypass operations. ..
