The problem is that unless you're five being read to is boring. But what if the reader was starkers? This is where Naked Girls Reading comes in. Started in 2009 in Chicago by Michelle l'Amour and Franky Vivid, the show's name leaves little to the imagination. In a nutshell, a group of four robed women appear on stage and shed their clothing before taking a strategic seat and wooing the audience with the words. The South African chapter of this ''salacious book club" have done readings in Cape Town and Johannesburg.Puritans may think that it might lend itself to lewdness, but it turns out the opposite is true. Once the audience is over the shock, they tend to treat the situation with refreshing maturity. Instead of being enraptured by boobs and bums, they acclimatise and become interested in what's being read.If anything Naked Girls Reading is a wonderful way to gauge how adult you really are. It teaches you nudity in and of itself is not a big deal.Naked Girls Reading will take place in Cape Town on Thursday and Friday and Johannesburg on August 6.
