Actor, DJ and notable James Bond non-candidate Idris Elba is adding another string to his bow: kickboxer. Because Elba did not prove to be terrifying enough as the titular detective in four series of Luther, the British actor has fulfilled his "lifelong ambition" of becoming a professional fighter in a new factual series.Fighter will follow Elba on his physical and mental journey training to become a professional kickboxer. The three-part documentary series will be released on Discovery early next year and promises to shed light on Elba as a person, rather than as an actor or international DJ.Elba, who did fitness kickboxing in his 20s, was filmed as he pushed his pain and fear thresholds and mastered specialised skills.Elba travelled to Cuba, Japan, South Africa and Thailand to learn unconventional training methods in an attempt to make himself a fair match for the professional fighter he will combat during the series' climax. ..
