Charged by an elephant, stranded on a boat between the Knysna Heads and tequila shots to pluck up the courage to bungee jump are some of the things to expect from the coming local series On The Fly. Presented by television personalities Bridget Pike and Dene Botha, the travel show takes viewers to holiday spots in Southern Africa. In 26 days the quirky duo took a trip to eight provinces and slept in 21 beds."It was very much On The Fly because each day we would find out in the afternoon where it was we were heading to next," said Botha."We went snowboarding in Lesotho, we did the Coffee Shack in Coffee Bay, we went to the Drakensberg and to Mozambique - it was an exciting way to look at Southern Africa from the viewpoints of two very different people."We got chased by an elephant in the Kruger National Park. One minute it was all cool and calm and the next thing this big animal just started flapping its ears and charged us to show us who is boss," Botha said.Pike said one of her favourite experiences was swimming with dolphins in Mozambique."It was the most majestic experience for me, swimming with 50 to 60 dolphins."As a foodie, she also enjoyed the cuisine that the different places had to offer. The Karoo lamb was the most memorable thing she ate."My taste buds were on an orgasm 24/7," Pike said.On The Fly is a part of the 80% local television quota put in place by the SABC's chief operating officer Hlaudi Motsoeneng earlier this year.It will debut on the broadcaster's lifestyle channel SABC3 on October 14 at 8pm...
