Former Hawks head Berning Ntlemeza will be going back to work only if his application to the Supreme Court of Appeal, to be heard on June 2, is successful.

His urgent application to the Pretoria High Court to set aside an enforcement order barring him from office was struck off the roll yesterday by Judge Sheila Mphahlele for want of urgency.

Ntlemeza was found in another High Court ruling, in 2015, to have lied under oath and "lacked integrity". This led to his removal from office.

His latest application was for an interdict preventing Police Minister Fikile Mbalula from barring him from entering the Hawks head office in Pretoria, from interfering with his official duties and from compelling him to return his police-issue vehicle and cellphone.

Mphahlele said Ntlemeza had failed to show that he would suffer permanent harm.

"In my view the interests of justice far outweigh any harm that might be suffered by the applicant," the judge said.
