Students have more spending power than most South Africans

Students spend more money in a month than the average South African, a report titled A Brand Me Generation, Buying Experiences reveals.

Published yesterday by marketing agency Student Village, the report interviewed just over 3200 tertiary students .

The average student spent R32568 last year compared with the average South African, who spent R31215.

 

Since the start of the year students' spend increased slightly to R2714 from R2702 a year ago.

The research shows that they received 85% of their money from their families, and 29% of them had a credit card.
